According to Microsoft’s blog post (cnet), there are now three options
for users who want to stay on Windows 10 and still receive security updates:
- Use Windows Backup to sync settings to the cloud via OneDrive (option 1)
- This option is free if you enable Windows Backup and sync your settings to OneDrive.
- Learn how to do this on Microsoft Support or follow this step-by-step guide.
- Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points (option 2)
- You can earn points by using Bing, Microsoft Edge, or completing daily activities.
- Redeem those points for one year of security updates.
- Learn more on Microsoft Rewards or Edge Learning Center.
- Pay $30 for the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program (option 3)
– Paid option guarantees updates until October 13, 2026.
– Businesses can purchase up to three years of updates.
– Details available on Microsoft Learn and Tom’s Hardware. - Just update to Windows 11, it’s super stable since version 24h2 anyway (option 4)
